Designed to fit the body in an ergonomic way, The Wave is a feature armchair inspired by the iconic Japanese painting, 'Great Wave of Kanagawa.'
This feature piece celebrates a combination of both Arabic & Japanese culture, combining the tradition of the mashrabiya with the Seigaiha, a traditional oriental pattern that plays a big part in Japanese heritage. Combining this pattern with inspiration from Japanese paintings, the backrest transforms into an ocean of waves, resting on an armchair which also embodies the same language.
The individual curves respond to the body from different planes, but come together to form the overall armchair by combining three crescent-like pieces. The first two crescents form the base of the chair, whereas the third piece distinguishes itself in material & purpose by curving around the back.
