ACCEPTDesigned by an Emirati interior designer, Hessa Alghandi, the Shibriya embodied a deep connection to heritage, drawing inspiration from sketches and treasured furniture pieces from the designer's grandmother’s life in Shindagha.
Inspired by the legacy of her great-grandfather, who used the original Shibriya, the designer aimed to fuse historical significance with modern design, creating a versatile piece for sleeping, lounging, resting, and gathering.
The goal was to revive forgotten craftsmanship from traditional homes, blending it with modern elements to create a piece suited for contemporary households. The Shibriya is offered in two versions: one featured traditional rope and mukhada, and another utilized loose strings from repurposed unfinished carpets, which encased the frame.
