The pandemic has significantly changed the way we experience space around us. Will these spaces ever return to ‘normal’, or will this be our new reality to adapt to?
To recover our once joyful, carefree experience of our outdoor spaces, the studio has developed an adaptive system that responds to prevalent pandemic regulations and the current user movement through a space without compromising the user’s experience and the social aspects of coming together.
Developed in consideration of a variety of public sites, the design caters to diverse social moments and adapts to a range of functions and user groups. The system adopts a fluid and responsive generative method, setting parameters in line to the regulations and the safety of its users.
Visual and sensory cues on the landscape and outdoor spaces aid people to traverse through the space with assurance of their safety. The new realized system stitches back the now fragmented experience of the user, adapting to the new spatial reality without losing human interactivity.
