Making a mark at this year’s Maison&Objet, the UAE Design Oasis brought together 15 UAE-based designers to showcase heritage and creativity on an international stage.
Curated under the guidance of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the initiative featured designers from a diverse range of disciplines – from furniture and interior design to textile innovation and traditional artisanship – who exhibited their work within a pavilion designed to reflect the rich diversity of the UAE’s creative landscape from January 16 to 20.

The theme of the exhibition centered on the fusion of innovation and tradition, highlighting how the region’s deep-rooted heritage can harmonize with cutting-edge design practices. By blending locally sourced materials with sustainable techniques, the designers presented progressive approaches to addressing environmental challenges within the realms of luxury and aesthetics.

Notable exhibitions included Muneera AlMulla’s ‘O-Piece: Al Safeefah Edition’, a multifunctional incense burner combining leather and palm fronds. Raghad Al Ali showcased ‘Nudi’, an elegant collection of glass-blown pieces inspired by natural forms. The exhibit ‘Threads’ by Areen Hassan reimagined traditional fabrics for functional spaces, while Lina Ghalib presented the ‘Yareed Bench’ – a sustainable bench crafted from recycled palm fronds.

Building on its success at Maison&Objet, regional talent will have the chance to continue showcasing their work to broader markets at the inaugural Downtown Design Riyadh, taking place from May 20 to 23. The fair will provide yet another strategic platform for local designers to reach new audiences and further strengthen their presence internationally.
