Tashkeel has announced the nine designers selected for the highly anticipated 2025 edition of the Tanween Design Programme, an initiative that nurtures emerging talent in the UAE.

This year’s cohort includes Alefiyah Ustad (Clock and Cloud), Amna Al Shamsi (Sketch and Space), Hannaneh Rafiee (Sketch and Space), Hessa Alghandi, Jasim Alnaqbi, Reem Shawkat (Clock and Cloud), Sarah Al Dulaimi, and Tasneem Al Nabhani—each poised to push the boundaries of design through a dedicated exploration of sustainability.

Over the next eleven months, the designers will embark on an intensive journey, collaborating with engineers and scientists to explore how design can address the urgent challenges of sustainability. From rigorous research and material experimentation to the delivery of innovative, functional outcomes, sustainability will serve as the programme’s defining principle.

Launched in 2013, Tanween has become synonymous with a distinctive design identity rooted in the UAE’s cultural and material landscape. The programme emphasizes core values of empathy toward people, objects, and environments; a deep engagement with local materials and production processes; and a commitment to authenticity and cross-cultural dialogue. This year’s edition continues to embody these principles while encouraging designers to rethink the relationship between craft, innovation, and ecological responsibility.

The 2025 Tanween cohort joins a legacy of designers who have emerged from the programme to shape the creative industries of the UAE and beyond. In recent years, Tanween has played a prominent role at Downtown Design in Dubai, 5-9 November, showcasing innovative works from cohorts and providing a vital platform for emerging designers to engage with international audiences.
