Downtown Design exhibitor Serip, from Portugal, creates stunning lighting pieces artfully handcrafted by a team of talented craftsmen.

Specialists in luxury lighting design, Serip stands out for its utmost attention to detail, combination of precious materials bronze and glass, and its nature-inspired, organic form chandeliers. Designed and made in Portugal, Serip’s original and refined pieces adapt perfectly to any environment be it contemporary or classic.

Head Designer of Serip Mrs Ilda Pires says, “Serip is best known for the organic lighting concept and it has been developing this style based in nature themes for 15 years. The pieces are created with natural forms, demonstrating that design does not always have to be straight lines and proportional measures. Because of the beauty of nature’s imperfection, the originality of its organic form becomes one of our major strengths in the design process. In the art of creating lighting and duplicating nature we demand of ourselves the highest standards of quality and continuous development in projects, to deliver the most creative and original lighting solutions, so that it can be possible for the client to enjoy in an environment the smoothness of what is natural."

Perfection of nature

Responding to a present world focused on symmetry, standard and monotony Serip creates concepts with a difference that are uneven, unique and contrasting like nature’s powerful distinguished elements.

Human hand

Serip´s passion for lighting and search for design innovation provides a unique point of view in today´s mass-producing decor market. Due to the almost entire absence of mechanic elements in the production process, and the increasing human touch, there are never two exact pieces. Every produced piece is a singular and unique work of art.

 Designed and produced in Portugal

Every piece is conceived as a lighting sculpture. It is the result of group work between artisans and a technical team that demands clear communication and supervision. Therefore, all the collections are totally designed and handmade at the 3000m2 Lisbon-based workshop in Portugal, making it easier to control the high quality production process.
