OBEETEE is one of the largest handmade rug makers in India and one of the oldest hand-woven rug companies in the world. OBEETEE’s outstanding quality and reputation have earned the interest of many famous and notable people. Founded as Oakley Bowden & Taylor in 1920, OBEETEE has grown to 650 permanent employees and works with 15,000 independent artisans who are engaged in weaving and processing rugs in India.
The OBEETEE colour bank holds over 4,000 colour-fast shades of wool. The designers at OBEETEE constantly study new textures and fresh combinations, to ensure the production of the finest quality rugs available in India.
‘PROUD TO BE INDIA COLLECTION’ BY TARUN TAHILIANI & OBEETEE: The collection, centered on the ‘Proud to be Indian’ theme, will showcase quintessential Indian designs for the first time in the country’s artistic rug heritage. The framework of this collection is based upon three distinct design structures — The Antique Frames Collection, The Chikankari Collection, and The Abstract Art Collection. MUSEUM COLLECTION: THE Museum collection pays homage to history and rug artistry. Inspired by the grand antiquity of Mamluk Rugs and the Persian finesse of Tabriz and Sultanabad Rugs, this collection bears testament to the great dynasties that have ruled civilizations in the past. Each of these masterpieces tells a story from the centuries gone by.
NIZAM COLLECTION: An exclusive blend of New Zealand wools creates unusual luster while the rich jewel tones compliment the royal patterns of Meshed, Isphahan, Kashan and Kermanshah.
The antique rugs feature a primary “broken border” in a technique originating in central Persia. Every piece is a perfect harmony of color, weave and heritage.
