Elica brings an exciting new collection of kitchen hoods to Downtown Design that to add a breath of fresh air into the home

Having long crossed its geographical boundaries, with a presence all over Europe, the Americas and Asia, Elica is known today as much more than an Italian brand (est 1970s), with a name synonymous with technologically-driven kitchen appliances worldwide.

The company’s ethos channels innovative thinking into constantly developing new design-oriented innovations and solutions – for instance, the hood at Elica is no longer just a hood, but a smart device that communicates with other systems to ensure clean air.

Air domotics’ is at the heart of Elica: the idea that the air inside every house can be ‘designed’. “We Are The AIRchitects”, proclaims the company - “air architects” that safeguard and improve the quality of the air we breathe.

At Downtown Design, Elica will present a selection of the company’s collections, which can be grouped broadly into two main categories: the first are high-tech, user-friendly solutions for intuitive home automation systems and interconnectivity; the second comprises cutting edge design products thought up with a great attention to detail.

Essenza is the new Elica vertical hood, with a pared down form that is enhanced by chrome-plated details. Because it is vertical, the product allows  absolute  freedom  of  movement,  where one can cook in comfort and space. Essenza is part of the Absolute product line, created to offer appliances that combine seamless design with technology.

Étoile is incorporated into the ceiling, almost disappearing from view, perfect over kitchen islands in an open plan layout. With Étoile, the ceiling breathes: the object disappears, yet the function remains.

Elica will also present Lien, a range of induction cooker hobs with innovative Wi-Fi technology for perfect communication with the Elica extractor hoods. Through a system controlling the cooking methods, the Lien hobs send information to the extractor hood, which is equipped with sensors to calibrate the ideal extraction and optimise consumption. There’s even a pot detector and temperature manager – a sensor that adjusts when the food has reached the pre-set temperature.

Pandora opens up through a mechanical push-up system, which allows for maximum freedom of movement in the kitchen, while at the same time guaranteeing the best aspiration performance – it’s based on a touch control command that regulates both the aspiration speed and the timer for automatic switch off.  . When it is closed, the elegant shiny glass element stands out, perfectly blending in with the style of the cook top.
