Though Bernhardt Interiors was only established in 2008, it is a division of the 125-year-old Bernhardt Furniture company. As one of the largest, family-run furniture companies in North America, it has a longstanding history of creating beautiful, lavish concepts.
Fully committed to the concept of artful furniture, its interiors division is a thoughtfully curated collection of eclectic, high-end furnishings through which people may express themselves in their homes. And as a general rule, Bernhardt Interiors treat each space as an architectural wardrobe – elegant, varied and easy to live with.
Their Boutique Gallery programme is a distinctive selection perfectly paired with lighting, rugs, art and other accessories to add the finishing touches to a space.
Variations on black
The Neo Noir approach introduced at Bernhardt, grounded in edgy variations of black, the pieces and combinations are studies in light, colour and atmosphere, in the attempt to create a dark, sensual and plush environment.
“We think these pieces have the sensibility of some-thing simple, sexy, and sophisticated,” says Heather Eidenmiller, director of brand development. “This is a more reductionist approach, more polished, more minimal. It’s a kind of simple and dark opulence that just feels right in this moment.”
Gold and Bold
These fixtures decked out in gold add a touch of elegance and seduction to any room. The gold metals and golden finishes are simply applied - sometimes all-gold-everywhere, other times paired with ivory-coloured elements which are often in bold patterns with abstract qualities.
Furniture as an Art Form
These pieces are part of an overarching new approach in home design that upholds many modernist ideals: home as the focus of design reform, artistic originality, the aesthetic of artisanal workmanship, emphasis on process and truth to materials.
“All around, we’re feeling movement toward a more experiential, original and artistic aesthetic in design - we call it the new modernism,” says. “We want to lead in designing the look of this new era. As part of that intention, we’re introducing a number of original handworked pieces that will be one-of-a-kind art works and conversation-starters in people’s homes.”
