Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, visited Downtown Design 2024 and engaged with exhibitors.
During her visit, Her Highness highlighted that Downtown Design embodies Dubai’s vibrant creative spirit, offering brands and designers a dynamic platform for dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in design. She commended the exhibition’s success in fostering a robust foundation for the arts, enabling creators to exchange insights, transform ideas into extraordinary works, and contribute to the cultural and creative industries. She noted its central role in empowering designers and companies to showcase their work globally, encouraging entrepreneurship, and providing access to investment opportunities.
As she toured the exhibition, she engaged with collections and participants that celebrate Dubai’s rich cultural diversity. She expressed delight at the fair’s impressive growth and met creatives from the ‘UAE Designer Exhibition,’ curated by Emirati designer Omar Al Gurg, this year, and featuring over 30 emerging UAE-based designers. She praised their creativity, innovation, and the quality of their work.
Additionally, she connected with exhibitors and international brands presenting innovative handicrafts and creative concepts. Highlights included initiatives like ‘Designed in Saudi,’ showcasing Saudi design talent, and ‘Interiors from Spain,’ featuring ten Spanish companies. She also explored creations unveiled from Tashkeel’s Tanween programme for 2024.
Her Highness also visited the inaugural Editions fair, the region’s first showcase for limited edition art and design, held alongside Downtown Design, meeting Emirati designer Aljoud Lootah, who unveiled her 10-year anniversary works, and discovered the unique collections presented by Iwan Maktabi.
