As part of its Middle East expansion, exhibitor Georg Jensen opened a new store in Dubai’s City Walk 2, in collaboration with AW Rostamani
Founded in 1904 by master silversmith Georg Jensen, the Danish design house is renowned the world over for its artistic boldness, superior craftsmanship and creative collaborations with leading designers such as Constantin Wortmann, Aldo Bakker, Tod Bracher, Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe and Henning Koppel.
The flagship store, which opened last month, will bring iconic Georg Jensen designs and the brand’s heritage of craftsmanship to Dubai’s flourishing design scene. Amongst its collections will be sterling silverware, fine jewellery, watches and accessories, and an innovative collection of special objects for the home.
For the opening, Georg Jensen flew in a master silversmith from its Copenhagen silversmithy who demonstrated some of the techniques the Danish smithy has become known for in its 112-year history.
The Dubai store will feature the brand’s recently redesigned interiors. Metallic Art Deco elements and sculptural lighting fixtures mix with the clean lines, natural materials and smooth surfaces of Scandinavian minimalism, with a handcrafted display table as a focal point.
The modern setting, inspired by early Georg Jensen designs, was developed in collaboration with acclaimed Danish architect David Thulstrup and offers a gallery-like backdrop for the collections.
