Established in Spain in 1966, Kettal are industry leaders in high quality, modern outdoor furniture design

For more than half a century, this premium outdoor furniture brand has continually evolved, forever anticipating the needs of modern living and interpreting the times with humour, joy and expressive colourways. Integral to its sustained success is its ability to seek some of the most exciting and progressive designers to collaborate with.

On show at Downtown Design 2017, the latest edition of the Rodolfo Dordoni helmed Bitta chair uses braided polyester cords that are inspired by traditional ropes used to moor boats. Cala, the high backed armchair designed by Doshi Levien is instantly recognizable thanks to its plumage-like back with an open weave of the ropes. Available in a wide selection of metal coatings, rope colours and cushion fabrics, the chair is a fine example of Ketall’s ability to endlessly customise.

The highly innovative nature means that the importance of research, both scientific and technological, has always been at the forefront of product development. Case in point, the Stampa chair by the Bouroullec brothers. The chair’s distinct calyx shaped metal shell is created by a system of holes made by the technique of punching metal sheets.

In keeping with their environmental policies, the wood used is protected under Perhutani certification and most of Kettal’s furniture paints are a 100% ecological and recyclable. A blend of creativity, innovation and modern production, each Kettal piece is unique and individual, while maintaining the brand’s distinct playful vibe.
