Sustainable design brand It’s About RoMi delivers original lighting solutions while giving back to the world

Studio 971 launches their webshop, s971.com, at Downtown Design. Amongst the wide array of distinctive and hip designer products, the webshop will feature "The City Lights" collection by the renowned Dutch brand its About RoMi.

What started as a small import-export company in 1993, in Amsterdam, is today the flag bearer of the Dutch way of life, thanks to the vision of founders Rob van Dijk and Norma Jean Lugten. It’s About RoMi, or rather, Realistic Open Minded Individuals, has fast grown to become an internationally recognised authority on contemporary Danish design, producing truly original lighting collections quarterly.

The collections reference classical Dutch materiality – metals, wood and glass – while the forms echo elements of industrial design. CityLights 2017 is exemplary of RoMi’s design DNA, as it seeks inspiration from great cities and their take on industrial design to deliver a robust collection of chandeliers, pendants and wall lights.

Only sustainable materials such as cork, recycled paper, woodchips and bamboo are used in the Good&Mojo collection. This do-good range also features waste car tyres and unexpected finishes such as cement.

Five per cent of every purchase aids the WakaWaka Foundation in their fight against energy poverty in off-grid areas across the world.
