Designed by Paris based Franklin Azzi Architecture and with interiors by French designer Thierry Gaugain, lifestyle hotel brand Mama Shelter will open in its eight location: Dubai’s Business Bay in 2020. Operations of the hotel chain will be undertaken by Accor Hotels, marking the Gulf debut of one of Accor’s new brands following its acquisition of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International (FRHI) last year.

With 201 rooms and 80 residences, the architect stated that “Mama Shelter will offer a unique tower to Dubai. A pure glass coat covering a wooden skin made by each rooms’ shutters.”

While targeting tech-savvy millennials, the guests will be able to relax at an all-day dining restaurant, trendy rooftop bar, lobby bar, café, volleyball court, basketball court and swimming pool and also features free iMacs in every room and lively casual restaurants.

Since its first launch in Paris in the year 2008; a hip concept by French designer Philippe Starck in partnership with former Club Med CEO Serge Trigano; Mama Shelter has since expanded to seven cities. The list includes Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseilles, Prague, Istanbul and Rio de Janeiro.

Mama shelter not only aims to create a setting for business meetings and fly-trough’s but also a place to live, work, laugh, celebrate and at the end of the night “come home to MAMA.”

The brand’s founder, Serge Trigano believes Dubai’s bustling excitement and international appeal aligns with the MAMA spirit, making it the ideal location for expansion.
