Dubai Design Week (24-29 October) returns with a roster of events for the design professional, including Global Grad show and over 150 events across the city.

At Dubai Design District (d3):

Be inspired by Global Grad Show, a world unique exhibition that will this year present 145 design innovations from graduate designers of 50 leading global and regional universities. The projects focus on design to benefit humanity, with students providing creative solutions to modern day issues, including a jacket that transforms into a sleeping bag and a system of inhabitable roofscapes designed for the Jerash refugee camp in Jordan.

Tune into the diverse 6-day talks programme, which this year will present leading figures from the international design scene offering their insights on product design, interior design trends and the region’s architecture. With additional workshops and portfolio reviews, there are opportunities for young and established design professionals to gain valuable advice and network with leading designers and brands.

Showcasing design from around the region, Abwab this year presents installations from Algeria, Bahrain, India, Iraq, Palestine and the UAE, around the theme of designing for the human senses; while the Iconic City exhibition this year focuses on Cairo. Curated by Mohamed Elshahed, founder of Cairobserver and curator of British Museum’s Modern Egypt Project, Cairo Now! A City Incomplete will be a present day journey through the city’s design, architecture and urban landscape.
