EscapefromSofa return to the Fair, after a successful debut as one of the Destination brands brought by Istanbul Design Week last year
Destination at Downtown Design provides an international commercial platform for the world’s emerging design weeks who each bring three of their freshest young brands. Istanbul Design Week brought contemporary furniture brand Escapefromsofa, modern-vintage collective Halit Berker and home accessory designers,Day Studio.
An interior design studio established in 2009, Escapefromsofa believes in focusing on contemporary values and catering to current demographic needs, rather than gaining inspiration from the past. As a modern and innovative company, the brand prides itself on constantly working with new and emerging materials and technologies. Escapefromsofa was co-founded by interior architect Kerem Ercin and industrial designer, Mahmut Kefeli in Istanbul and has to date worked on multiple design projects around the world, including in spas, office spaces, clinics, restaurants and private homes.
On their participation at the Fair last year, Mehmut Kefeli adds: "We’re grateful to Downtown Design for giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the region. We’re working on some exciting new projects in Dubai as a result of our participation last year.”
Escapefromsofa is currently designing pieces for their latest collection, which they plan to unveil at Downtown Design 2016.
