Made with colourful chain links, KriskaDECOR’s curtains are as aesthetically pleasing as they are functional

KriskaDECOR’s cool metallic curtains are imaginative creations that have allowed both designers and architects (such as Patricia Urquiola or Rockwell Design) or even artists (as in Andrew Sabin’s ‘The Sea of Sun’ installation) to find creative methods of demarcating and partitioning spatial environments.

First produced in 1926, KriskaDECOR’s chains function as both dividers and decorative murals, ceiling installations and cladding. Created with small, interlinked pieces of anodized aluminium that form a lightweight, versatile mesh, their colours, sizes and volumes can be customised. Furthermore, when reflected against LED lighting, the mesh creates a shimmering effect.

A family-run brand that’s now in its 3rd generation and 90th year of operation, KriskaDECOR was founded in Montblanc, Spain. For Downtown Design, they will be launching the Barcelona Screen Divider, which is their latest partition that is highly customisable in size, colour, and pattern design, making it possible to integrate it into almost every space with add-ons such as wheels and LED light.  Images and patterns can be reproduced on the surface by combining the coloured anodized links and due to the density of the Barcelona screen divider mesh, the light can filter through the links to add ambient light to a room.

Thanks to their special anodising process, KriskaDECOR's chain curtains are weather-resistant and durable. They are also extremely lightweight – approximately only three kilograms per square metre.

The company currently has three lines: KriskaDECOR Collections is the most exclusive - a limited range of curtains with particular designs for the home; KriskaDECOR Contract is the company's made-to-measure range, where architects and designers can have their designs made up to the size and scale they need; and KriskaDECOR Products is the experimental range of lighting solutions, screens and products.
