Within Downtown Design, the annual bustling highlight event of Dubai Design Week, is Downtown Editions - a boutique fair section that highlights limited-edition and bespoke design from around the world.

Bringing together creatives and designers from various backgrounds, Downtown Editions features handcrafted products to 3D printed furniture as well as innovative works exploring new materials by individual designers, craftsmen & artisans, creative studios or boutique collectives.

The Downtown Editions fair section has become a platform that is renowned for its ability to catapult both local and international designers and collaborations into the spotlight while celebrating the rich tapestry of design diversity.

The works showcased over the years have further contributed to the fair’s unique atmosphere of fostering an environment where creativity and commercial opportunities intertwine.

Situated among world-renowned brands, Downtown Editions offers visitors a discovery of limited edition and collectible design from individual designers and collectives. This year’s showcase transcends borders, introducing international talents and contemporary crafts such as; illuminated woven timberworks by Australian industrial designer Edward Linacre, inspired by geometries inherent in nature, Singaporean Akar de Nissim will present their premium pieces that are expertly transformed through a signature 10-layer lacquer process, for the first time at the fair, fine crafts and collectable design objects by Portuguese makers and artists, presented by Double J Collective and beautiful limited-edition lights inspired by Africa, handmade by South African Arkivio. ALEEYA. design studio (A.), a Pakistani design studio will debut a new product suite by its sister studio ­- A* alittlemore studio. Studio Palatin returns from Austria with a new collection set to be launched at the fair alongside New Terracotta from Portugal, showcasing their distinct contemporary handmade tiles.

Some of the creative collectives highlighting contemporary craftsmanship at the fair this year, include ‘Visions of Catalonia’, highlighting the artisanal excellence found in Spain's Catalonia region alongside ‘Anatolia’, a new initiative by the curatorial team of Isola Design that will spotlight contemporary design talent from Turkey, featuring the region’s unique mix of ancient and modern influences, while a showcase of Dutch design talent, curated by Margriet Vollenberg, will feature a line-up of limited-edition and handmade works by creatives from The Netherlands.

Regional highlights include Sharjah-based 1971 - Design Space will be presenting an installation by the talented Neda Salmanpour while Lebanese platform Beit Collective will showcase pieces by Adam Nathaniel Furman and many more, Fadi Sarieddine Design Studio will launch a limited edition collection composed of pieces carved from stone and wood, while Eva Szumilas will unveil the latest ‘Galaxy’ collection at the fair. A platform for independent Iranian designers and artists, AASSTTIINN will debut at Downtown Design 2023 with a multidisciplinary showcase and from Egypt, Form: The Studio are back at the fair with their colour mirrored pieces also from Egypt Don Tanani is joining for the first time, launching their collective pieces to the region, and local design incubator Tashkeel will unveil the culmination of the 2023 Tanween Programme continuing the focus on sustainability and addressing the fundamental challenges facing the world today.
